The Right Conditions For Winter Sleeping

With our air conditioning systems, including world-famous heat pump brands like Panasonic, Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric, you can create the optimum conditions for better quality sleep over winter. While you may think this involves nothing more than setting a comfortable temperature for everyone, there’s far more to it than that.

For example, different ages require different bedroom temperatures. For instance, 18 to 21 degrees Celsius is a healthy range for babies and children. On the other hand, the acceptable range is much wider for adults, coming in at 15 to 22 degrees Celsius. And then the range constricts again for seniors, with 19 to 21 degrees Celsius being the narrower healthy standard for that demographic. So, thinking a temperature that is comfortable for you will be fine for younger or older people in your home is incorrect. Thankfully, it is very easy to set the correct temperature on different systems in each bedroom.

Humidity is something else to consider when trying to create the best conditions for winter sleeping. Humidity levels of over 40% can leave condensation on the windows, and sleeping in a room with that amount of moisture can’t be good for you. Meanwhile, anything around the 60% mark can be even more damaging. Respiratory conditions and a wide range of illnesses are made worse when things get this bad, and sadly in many New Zealand homes, things are that bad.

High-quality air conditioning can alleviate problems associated with too much moisture in the air during those cold and damp winter months. It can heat the air enough to remove excess moisture and leave the room at a comfortable level of between 30 to 40%, which is the recommended range in the winter months. This is “just right” because anything that dries out the air too much can cause sore throats and headaches, worsen sinus issues and leave you with very flaky and dry skin. The good news is, modern heat pumps like Panasonic, Mitsubishi and Daikin Heat Pumps are designed to heat and dry out the air without taking it to extremes. Maximum comfort and healthy air quality are virtually assured with new generation air conditioning in Auckland.
